MSA Age Cutoffs

Age charts are used to determine which age group (U-5, U-6, etc) is appropriate for a given child.

MSA offers various age divisions with leagues for both boys and girls.

Indiana Youth Soccer (IYSA), in association with US Youth Soccer, has adopted a move to small-sided play for youth programs. MSA has traditionally offered small-sided experiences for younger players, and we have adjusted our policies to align with those recently adopted by IYSA. On September 23, 2002, the MSA Board voted unanimously to adopt the age charts recommended by the Indiana Youth Soccer Association (IYSA). IYSA maintains an updated age chart on their web site.

All leagues are organized into teams by age and gender. Age divisions are determined by the player’s age as of August 1, 2010. The birth date range for each “U” age division is shown in the table at the right. For example, if a player’s birth date is 2/15/99, the player is eligible for an Under-12 years old (U12) team.
